Population
In the 1930 the population had grown to 104,969 however in the next ten years growth slowed down and grew to only 105,807 by 1940. During these times peoria was a very rasist community with about three percent of the population being African American. Most of the population was German. There was also a significant number of Jews, serval hundred families for each of its two synagogues.
